Exercise of the Week

Crunch with medicine ball throw (unassisted):

  • Starting position: Lie flat on stability ball with trunk supported, hips level, and shoulder blades off the back of the ball.
  • Throw medicine ball directly upward while performing crunch movement. Hold flexed position until ball is caught. Return to beginning position. Repeat.
  • Muscles worked: Primarily rectus abdominis. Pectoralis muscles and triceps perform the throw, and gluteal and hamstring muscles hold the hips in position.
